And she tells the story of human trafficking as she encourages people to vote for a rapist.

Kinda hypocritical, right?

Debunking the constant lies is exhausting and never ending. Thank you for your work.

So glad you’re on the job, David. A lot of great people on Substack are gearing up to fight the good fight. Thank you for sailboat picture which is perfect for one of my favorite sayings: “We can’t control the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails.” Trimming my jib to head into the storm . . .

Thanks for shedding light on this. Fortunately, her performance was so bizarre that the content is discounted at hand.

Jeez — David — it is so much more creepy than I even suspected. Thanks for sharing this info, the broader tactic of Big Lying, and the warning for being on our toes

Evokes Russia. Putin lies to Russians. Most, not all, know he is lying. He knows they know he is lying. They know he knows he is lying. And no one expects otherwise….

Thanks for your work! So important to expose these lies. But really are Republicans so clueless that they think the Katie Britt performance will appeal to suburban women. It could backfire badly.

Thank you for helping to spread the truth about this latest shameless lie.

When I learned the true story, my first thought was that many people like Karla Jacinto Romero would be denied refuge by the Right.

I understand that the U.S. cannot grant asylum for every person claiming a need, but I absolutely believe that >99% of asylum seekers are fleeing inhumane and dangerous conditions, seeking a better life for themselves and their families. And I understand that it takes money and staffing to process the millions of desperate claims, and that bipartisan compromise bill they killed would have helped.

It's infuriating that Republicans would rather lie and foment fear about the <1% of non-citizens who have committed crimes, than genuinely try to solve the very real and tragic problem.

Finally, while I agree that right-wing propaganda is fanning the flames and fomenting hysteria, it's worth noting that even otherwise trusted media sources do a HORRIBLE job in how they report on this issue. There's no discipline with respect to the words they use-- they conflate immigrant, undocumented, migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. Even thoughtful, intelligent people have no understanding of how many have come through at legitimate checkpoints and were processed to have an asylum hearing at a later date, v.s. those who crossed illegally through a vulnerable border point, v.s. those who overstayed visas. The mainstream media is failing to educate and enlighten citizens at a time we so desperately need to understand the reality.

Katie Britt, not only lied about the human trafficking, but insinuated that women's place was in the kitchen, I don't know what is she doing in Washington, D.C. One thing is for sure; she will not get the lead in the school play this year. Maybe Sesame Street will contract her. Let's sail away in David's beautiful painting.

This is so spot on and important. However America seems to be tone deaf to reality. The Republicans could have killed the big lie when Trump first espoused it but instead chose to let it become institutionalized and now it has become a tactic. Democracy cannot survive in this environment.

Carrying on the tradition of the Big Lie as perfected by MAGA’s leader, based on some of his favorite readings of his idols.

“…. follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.”

Joseph Goebbels

Everything about Britt’s speech was a pure D-rated performance. Lies, gas-lighting and overacting were the highlights. SMH

No, I think it's much worse than that. This is all part of a plan. It is the takeover of the US. And if's all about money. This country generates more than any other country, and these cretins want it. And obviously, they'll go to any depths to get it. Even lies as hideous as this. Even if it means corrupting a major religion. We've got some serious work to do, folks.

one of my first thoughts was that the whole speech was aimed at the MAGAT faithful, who need no encouragement to believe further lies. It struck me then that most "suburban women" would find it hokey. Now that the truth is out about the lies, will they feel inclined to believe her still? Or feel bamboozled by the GOP?

There is absolutely no bottom with the Trumpist GOP. Thanks for doing this, David. Britt's response was Hunger Games level bizarre.
