I hope Ohio governor Mike DeWine goes on record about this. I know he did an OpEd in the NYT mostly decrying the anti-Haitian rhetoric from Trump and Vance but it was behind a paywall so I didn’t see all of it.
It's all too familiar...thank you for shining a bright light on the situation, David. We need lawyers and poll watchers at every site to protect those who have the courage to vote...intimidation can feel poignant and even deter resilient (like you father) folks. The Proud Boys showed up at a rally a couple of years ago, and they were, I found, memorably unsettling. Our collective determination is what we must rely on. May November prove better than what Georgia, Ohio, and other states are predicitng.
Keep in mind that Mike DeWine is reaching the end of his term limits. Who will run to replace him? It's a sure bet that old Frankie will be in the mix. These perps are calculating and ambitious as hell. And Ohio, held captive by an illicit GOP supermajority, promises to be fertile ground for their corruption.
Outrageous response that aims to silence and demoralize Democrats. Let’s remember that twice in the past 20 years, Ohio voters chose the Democratic candidate over 2 respectable Republican candidates. This time the Ohio Republican Party opened its arms to a former President who did nothing to stop a violent attack on Congress. That candidate now has stirred up chaos in Springfield, Ohio, and he could care less about the damage inflicted by his lies and fear-mongering. Isn’t it time to register voters and GOTV for a return to sanity and civility?
If state officials refuse to address this situation, can’t they take it to federal officials as a civil rights violation?
It looks like LaRose isn't up for reelection until 2026, but the sherriff is running in November.
