Somewhat off topic, but I wanted to post where Ohioans would see.

Postcards to Voters (www.postcardstovoters.org) has launched a campaign to support Michael Kripchak in his race to win the June 11 special election for the US House seat in OH-06. It is a red district, but turnout is expected to be low, which is where grassroots postcard campaigns shine!!

I spoke to a woman at a service station in Mahoning County and she did not know the election was scheduled for the 11th. I feel confident many many do not know. I gave her Michael’s webpage and suggested she check him out.

Since the last census, Trumbull and Mahoning Counties were split up so I can’t vote for Michael K. I am not in District 06. Thanks to gerrymandering.

"Thanks to gerrymandering."

I feel your pain. NC gives OH a run for its money wrt gerrymandering. Our short-term goal is to break the super-majority in the state legislature and elect Dems to the Council of State which is elected for all the races.

Cheryl, are you in touch with Markers for Democracy? Were you part of the Grassroots Collaboration Project meeting on Ohio?

I do attend Marker's for Democracy postcard writing parties, although I heard about the race via an email from Tony the Democrat.

I'm in NC, but I love writing postcards for special elections. I usually start by taking 5 postcards (irrespective of where the race is taking place) and then do more if the candidate's message or the issue is compelling. (I wrote a bunch for the 2 special elections in OH last year!) I was on the call last Friday where Michael Kripchak was the guest, so I wrote more postcards for him over the weekend.

thank you!

There is still time to adopt some addresses. Postcards should be mailed by a week before the election, so Tuesday June 4th. But if you live in OH, it is considered safe to mail them on Wednesday June 5th.

I am not tuned into the Postcards? Is there a website?

Patricia, I mentioned it in a post earlier in this thread. Postcards to Voters (www.postcardsto voters.org). If you have been postcarding for a while, you may know it as Tony the Democrat.

It is now a little too late to sign up for the Ohio race next week - there is a process to becoming an approved volunteer - see https://postcardstovoters.org/volunteer/. Once you have become an approved writer, sign up for alerts or emails to find out about new campaigns.

Their bread and butter is vote by mail (VBM) campaigns and GOTV for special elections. They have been working their way through all the counties in FL to remind Democratic voters to sign up for VBM. They usually only have 1 or 2 campaigns going on at the same time unlike other campaigns like Field Team 6 (www.fieldteam6.org), Activate America (www.activateamerica.vote) or Postcards to Swingstates (https://www.turnoutpac.org/postcards/).

Not sure how many people I know personally in Ohio but I will restack to reach anyone who might be interested. Extremely important grassroots organizing to save democracy.

When you re stack, what is the benefit to re stacking?? Curious. TIA

If I understand your question, I think the benefit is to reach more people. And I sometimes restack posts on which I can’t comment because I’m not a paid subscriber. There are so many great writers on Substack that I could spend my entire budget keeping up.

👋 in Englewood (Dayton) ... Phil Plummer is my rep, though I'm not sure what good it will do to contact him... he has veered so far right these days, he is unrecognizable from his early days... Huffman is my state senator, so ... again... they just don't listen... not that I won't contact them! I even have a fax... maybe I'll call their office and hit *send* when they answer.... hehehehehe....

That’s why they need voted out !!! They aren’t representing their people. 🤘🏼

Still a bit long but there is a lot in there to cover. I re-stacked it as is.

This week, Ohio is supposed to vote on a “clean” bill with no extra republican bullshit included thanks to D-Allison Russo.

Perhaps their electoral votes shouldn't be counted at all. Especially if they are going to pick and choose who gets on the ballot.

DeWine signed a bill to add Biden to Ohio’s November, but he included language to diminish Citizen-led Initiatives such as gerrymandering.

So now, after >700,000 votes

were collected to put an amendment on November’s ballot regarding gerrymandering, it will not happen.

DeWine insisted on having the vote even though Secretary of State LaRose stated on his website that the DNP had agreed to change the convention date to August so as to have Biden selected as the Democratic nominee prior to Ohio’s deadline for submittal.

I did not hear anything about our Democratic Senators (Sherrod Brown did you protest the vote?) or Representatives trying to prevent the vote with strings attached.

I bet repugs genuinly believe in exclusively a transactional nature of the world, a reptilian mindset of either I eat you, or you'll eat me. These are the ugly, shady characters that robbed and sole in times of war to trade and enrich themselves. All the noble ideas of freedom are a meaningless noise to them.
