Your description of just these three Ohio legislators is shocking. How can the people of Ohio that aren’t wacko undo this catastrophe? I live in WA where the situation is different so I can’t fathom what is happening in Ohio. What a terrible situation.

it’s how mike johnson is where he’s at today. no competition. same in my state, mississippi. it takes resources to campaign, monetary and social resources. if you don’t want to sell your soul to devils, you can try to build up a grassroots effort campaign. we see what happens most of the time with those. they wither and die.

It's awful. We are also stuck with Gym Jordan because of the gerrymandering. And they want to ignore the constitutional vote we just passed. It's so hard.

The response to the recent abortion vote just infuriates & frustrates me (and I live in WA). The arrogance of these people (I assume mostly men) to say “tough shit” to their voters is a slap in the face. Will it cause any of them to lose their seats? I doubt it. The fact that people have to expend so much energy to just TRY to have the “democracy” we like to brag about makes me so angry.

‘Three women’ makes it even worse to me.

You neglected to mention how Andrew Brenner and Kris Jordan trade places between the state Senate and House to avoid term limits. As a lifelong Central Ohioan I never voted for either, but suffered under both.

Goodness, David, Ohio is a hot mess. But in reading Heather Cox Richardson’s book Democracy Awakening I learned more about gerrymandering which is pervasive everywhere. She describes “packing” or “cracking” which means drawing the lines to either contain similar voters or distribute them widely, with either tactic resulting in controlling voting blocs. You both are describing how politics works and it isn’t pretty. I’m ordering your book next. Thank you for all your efforts to pull back the curtain!
