I’m so glad you can articulate what I have been thinking this morning, David. We the People are being squeezed out. I believe Government should serve us and provide a social service safety net for all. Interesting that you likened what is happening to Hungary. No wonder Orban has been visiting his BFF.
Talk about Rigged Elections?! Oh brother, you can Never turn your back on the underhanded injustice of the Republicans. They can't win on Issues or Policies, so here we are. Good Job this morning ☕ and will reStack ASAP 💯👍
It has always seemed obvious to me that the vast majority of billionaires aren't nice people. They didn't get that rich by being philanthropists and they're more interested in making even more money than anything else. They've got more money than they could possibly need already and yet they're obsessed with grabbing ever greater shares. Why anyone votes for them is beyond me. I guess the people who do think they must be smart and good with the economy? But they ignore their selfish self-interest. Ironically, Elon Musk tweeted that you don't have to be smart to become a millionaire (and the irony was totally lost on him, like Trump he's a classic example of Dunning-Kruger effect!
Anyway, thank you for your clear and simple explanation.
It’s horrible that we lost the chance to pass Issue 1 here in Ohio. This was to stop gerrymandering. But the days before Nov 5 I saw a lot of commercials featuring trump saying to vote NO on issue 1 & of course whatever their führer says is what they do. I will never understand why people vote against their own interests.
Really well said. One concern I have is to make sure there are media still willing to tell the truth about what's going on. How can we uplift those smaller, independent news outlets?
This explains part of the liberal/conservative divide. The liberal view is that government both can and should serve to benefit the society as a whole through public services. The conservative view is skeptical that is either possible or desirable, as attempting to benefit all of society risks distributing assets to some that may “not be worthy”. I think many conservatives consider corruption to be such a given in government, that they would prefer to not risk being “robbed” to give services to poor people and instead would support slick autocrats who encourage them to see others as “unworthy”.
The kicker is how much cheaper it is for a community to have services available to the population at large instead of dealing with the fallout of a population that doesn’t have its needs met.

We see this in Missouri. The government wastes our tax $$$ on their interests instead of what benefits citizens.
