I understand the need to recruit candidates. I don't understand how to do it. How do you convince a younger person, who is just hitting their stride in their professional life, to put their careers on hold to run for office for 6 months to a year? How do you convince people to run in those districts (or statewide races) where they have little chance of being successful? Running for office is difficult, tiring, expensive. It is easy to talk about the importance of having candidates in every race; it is much more difficult when those individuals think about the very personal impact running will have on their lives. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Let’s do it! But how do we get the information out about the candidates’ true records? I spent over an hour today tracking the legislative record of one GOP candidate in So Texas, who garnered a lot of media attention when she upset the election in a traditionally Democratic district. Just focusing on one candidate at a time, carefully glossing their records, personal beliefs and stated objectives is so important, I think, in making the case to young voters. I intend to do that in Florida, especially when the time comes to question the election of one very MAGA Republican in an historically Democratic district. The redistricting in all the States has upended the reliable predictions in elections. Too close elections are a big concern. I can’t wait to start getting the word out!
