We need to recall that the way the Republicans got the strength that they now have is they started emphasizing local and state elections and built a huge bench, while Democrats concentrated on top-of-the-ticket races. We are behind, but brave people are stepping into the breach, and we can, as Simon Rosenberg says, "take stuff away from them," while they are under the spell of the cult.
