I actually like that he will focus on the Presidency for the duration. He is the finest example of a statesman that we’ve had and he helped give international allies a breath of relief. His presidency is the best in decades! The list of his accomplishments are inspiring DESPITE a fascist republican bulldoze in Congress. He will be such a beloved figure for all of history. This is now his legacy. He did it! A life in politics culminating in a VP role and then a successful Presidency! A man of highest character in showing sympathy and concern. All the best in character!
I don't doubt that Citizens United encouraged these people to come into "public service" and corrupted many who were already there. We need to fix this. I appreciate the Pepperspective in this article. Thank you, and let's get this done!
Excellent, David! By contrast, Robert Hubbell -- whose commentaries I also (usually) enjoy and agree with -- continues to harp on how disappointed so many Dems are because they voted for Joe Biden as their 2024 candidate and now are being ignored. Look, move on. I voted for Joe Biden, too, but I realize the only thing that matters is defeating the outrageous fascist Republican politicians, 99% of whom (I count Cheney and Kitzinger as counterexamples and maybe a couple others) have succumbed to the temptations of power in exactly the ways you so clearly explain. Everyone who cares about the future of this country has to just get over what's happened -- immediately -- by recognizing that circumstances change and need to be dealt with, by thanking Joe Biden for being a true patriot and a wonderful public servant, and by actively supporting WHOEVER the Democratic nominee is and everyone else on the ballot who's a Democrat. I'll be writing postcards to registered Democrats simply urging them to vote, which seems to be the best hope for victory.
Very well said! People forget that the Government is there to serve the people…all people; not the other way around. Biden definitely reminded us of that. Our elected officials are there to serve our needs…not theirs.
I was impressed to read today in the NYT an OpEd from Al Sharpton who advised the same way forward, gave reassurances about what all Joe Biden did for the black community during his 4 years. I'm moved and heartened by the many tributes and coalescing of opinion about VP Harris moving up.

What a lovely post this morning, David. And a stunning picture of the two of you. My heart is warmed to know you’re both still on the job.
This is the top post I have read this morning. Just proud.... pride in amazing Joe Biden

Beautifully said David. Thank you.
Excellent! Thank you, David, I couldn't agree more.
Such a beautiful tribute -- and reminder of what it means to serve the public. Thank you for this.
Well said. My respect and admiration for Joe grows
