David,

In one of your next whiteboards, can you explain how the Republicans could just ignore the Ohio Supreme Court orders ro reform the redistricting to make district elections fairer. If Court orders can be ignored without penalties, what are Court rulings worth? Does it require a civil suit? Who has standing? If such a case were undertaken, wouldn't the same court rule that those being sued had already shown they could ignore? If such a legal action must be undertaken by the State Attorney General, what if he is one of the guilty parties? I am sorry to be so ignorant about how the legal system works, or apparently doesn't work. But you are a lawyer with an interest in the matter. Can you educate us?

I echo what Bill said and have the same questions. More specifically, what can be done before the 2024 elections. The GOP played the timing card for this year, but we have plenty of time to redraw legal districts before the next election. The current map was rejected by the sitting state Supreme court.

Absolutely needs to get done this session while we control both Senate and House. If it doesn't happen during the lame duck, and the House flips red even by one seat, we've lost the opportunity. Manchin and Sinema still oppose the filibuster so we need to put pressure on them. Even with 51 senators in the 118th Congress, this legislation will be dead.

Thanks so much for this thorough analysis of what’s in play and what we need to do right now. I’m on board and will share this to gather support and lobby for the actions you present.

Absolutely agree that this has to be our first priority. Thank you, David. Hope at the meeting this Friday you will help us strategize what we Ohioans can do at this point.

Any thoughts on why this didn't happen? Or even get much traction? It's April 2023... I just came across this video, and it's the first I've heard of this legislation... and I care about this issue!

I'm curious why you think they will adhere to the law when they ignored the state S.C. in Ohio?

I'm hopeful the pendulum is swinging back to reason and empathy. The road current Repulican politicals are on is one of doom for them or our democracy at large...
