Hannah Ahrendt said something to the effect, you can tell what an autocrat has in store for you, by what he says about the present. Mike Johnson declaring that we don’t live in a democracy, is not about the present but about what he and his ilk have in store for us.

Jess Piper is doing the same with Blue Missouri, another excellent crowd sourced funder. These are all fabulous way to win!

More fascinating information on the little-known new Speaker. Thank you, David, for all your hard work. Let’s avoid Mike Johnson and Theocracy by all means.

On gerrymandering. Refresh my memory--didn't the Extremes refuse to rule on partisan gerrymandering because it was "political." If so, would they opine on a Federal statute that banned it? If the GOP is shooting itself in the area due north of its feet, would a "blue wave" in Congress be able to address this?

Your book is on my TBR list. Sadly, the list is so long I'm going to have to live to be 130 to get through it. I plan on doing just that. Meanwhile, it is HIGH on my TBR list.

Good read on the need for democratic money to “go local”.

This statement by Thom is so true: "Democrats focus so much on federal offices in a few swing states"

I just hope that someone of significant standing in the DNC reads Thom's reports.

As I've said before. We are in this sorry situation because the DNC has neglected local elections and throw their money and attention only on the General election, mostly the Presidential race.

And the national general election is what the megadonors are interested in, their only interest is tax cuts and deregulation, and sadly those items also seem the ones that the Democratic party advances, if for nothing else fear of and need for the megadonors cash.

The Republicans, at least since Goldwater have been throwing resources to lower level political positions from dog catcher and school boards, city councils, county commissioners to state legislatures, and the result is all around us, not just Trump but state legislatures that can override the veto's of Democratic governors, boards of educations that ban books and curriculum's.

Reading this made me go, wow. But then when I saw the percentages of those states who have unopposed elections, I went WOW!

Thanks for writing this and will be looking for Blue Ohio and Blue Missouri, per another commenter.
