Everyone looks at DeWeenie as this nice, little old man, doing his public service for one and all. BS!!!! The man is every bit as crooked as Householder, and should become neighbors with Larry as soon as possible! Still can't believe my fellow Ohioans chose him over Nan Whaley. Then again, they chose jd vance over Tim Ryan, too.

Thank you, David. With repubs it's always, always about $$$$ and reverse robinhood. Their only concern is for the well-being of their donors=oligarchs.

Reading this and post by Jason Garcia, 'Seeking Rent' is illumining, infuriating, and heartbreaking at the same time.

Thanks you! Your concluding questions are my favorite. It does seem there should be a point where DeWine is personally held accountable for his illegal actions.

Did the "status quo" group invest the pension funds in First Energy or Energy Harbor stock or bonds? How does DeWine's actions replacing Steen relate to covering up the HB 6 scandal? Follow the $, follow Nuveen... The Energy Harbor bonds are owned by Nuveen. Look at who the Board members have been. So, there's a reason that the pension funds are not performing and DeWine doesn't want transparency. Was part of the HB 6 scheme to invest the public pension funds in Energy Harbor bonds (in the failing nuclear plants), and DeWine didn't want the feds or AG Yost finding out so DeWine replaced Steen? AG Yost just charged FE execs and Randazzo today. Those 2 money losing, dangerous nuclear plants are at the center of this problem, and AG Yost charges that the First Energy execs and Randazzo made big $ by pumping up the stock price, as it relates to the HB 6 bailout. Did they also pump up the value of these bonds? Part of this deal was the spin off of Energy Harbor and the ownership of Energy Harbor relates to the Nuveen bonds -- with former First Energy Board members as the Nuveen Board members controlling the Energy Harbor bonds. Now, the Inflation Reduction Act $ are helping the nuclear industry. This certainly can't just all be a "coincidence," can it? This is very enlightening that DeWine used an illegal replacement, but to cover up for what?

WTF? The pension fund lost $30 billion last year? A blind squirrel could made money in the market last year.

Deswine needs to be fully and quickly investigated and then locked up.

Excellent article! Thank you! I sent this on to literally 65 people today. STRS Senior Staff, Ohio Retirement Study Council, State of Ohio representatives and senators on Pension Committee, numerous DeWine Staff members , friends and family! How many will read it? I hope many!

Dictator DeWine denied teachers of Ohio their democratic right to have their voices heard!

Old teachers never give up! We keep on doing our jobs, working for the benefit of the communities we’ve served all our lives.

I’m a retired teacher from California, who was active in getting our pension fund to divest from private prison corporations a few years ago.

Well David we can’t be surprised by this can we? DeWine is corrupt as they come. I look forward to Mike having to sit for hours of deposition regarding this and HB6. As another reader suggested the bailout could have something to do with the investments of the pension funds! 😡😡

“The clock is ticking for the other people that were involved,” Fehrman said.

He named Gov. Mike DeWine Lt. Gov. Jon Husted as people of interest for him.

DeWine has been complying with a subpoena he received in a civil case connected to the scandal, he said.

FirstEnergy investors are suing for being negatively impacted financially by the scandal. They have subpoenaed documents from DeWine, and they’re scheduling a sworn deposition with Husted.
