I had the same sinking feeling when I read that news. In fact, my first thought was that they should use the previous maps instead of the new ones already judged unfair. I’m sure the old ones are also unfair, but at least people knew where to vote. Your vast knowledge of the arcane history of voting rights at the various states is impressive. Jim Crow lives!

SCOTUS is slow-walking the South Carolinian gerrymandering case. The egregious behavior of both the court and those who drew the lines to support a sitting Rep is unforgivable. If they allow another election to proceed, with the unfair maps (already judged so by the State courts) it is further proof of the judicial corruption we are all facing. Sigh.

The guardrails haven't held.

SCOTUS is openly flaunting its contempt of democracy, whether through nonsensical decisions, incomprehensible delays, or failing even to rule on the question of whether a president can order Seal Team 6 to assassinate political rivals.

I disagree with Chris Hayes...shining a light on corruption has yielded no changes in behavior.

How much more proof does one need to see the blatant corruption of this non-Supreme Court? History is going to be downright cruel to these miscreants, but it helps no one today.

Ive read Laboratories of Autocracy and Saving Democracy both of which were incredibly inspiring and orienting. I also have appreciated your previous book suggestions and was wondering what you might be reading recently? Any suggestions for other books that might better help us mobilize in our current fight to strengthen and save our democracy?

Or history repeats itself? Or history refuses to change?

It's hard to not to think the system is rigged - against democracy and fairness.

This SCOTUS is corrupt, and the only thing that can be done is to someday replace the likes of Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch with justices that actually believe in the rule of law and democracy. If we ever see that happen...it's going to take decades to unravel the damage to America the Robert's court has wrought. If it happens at all.

If it’s to the Republican’s benefit, the Taney Roberts Supreme Court will slow walk every time.

Can’t wait for their immunity ruling. The SC map ruling will come, eventually and Seal Team 6 is on standby
