I’m all for this.

Still in shock that Ohio chose Bernie Moreno over Sherrod Brown, but I continue to hope.

Already donated late last night (or early this morning as the case may be) as soon as I got her text.

The MAGA contingent will have the knives out over her mask mandate THAT THEY ARE STILL MAD ABOUT. But I'm hoping we get enough people on her side to counteract that. Very exciting, though!

Thank you, David, for introducing a note of hope. After watching the NYT video of Dr. Acton, I wish she were being inaugurated as our next President. Definitely glad she’s entering the political fray with her wonderful common sense.

I live in neighboring Indiana and have family in Cleveland Heights so this would be good news indeed.

Dr. Amy Acton Files for Governor of Ohio (2016) is good news.

Earlier today, I discovered a bit of good news. Democrats prevailed in a pair of special election races on Jan. 7 in Virginia. The wins, one in each chamber of the state legislature, enabled Democrats to maintain their narrow control of the Virginia State Assembly and Senate.

Rather than obsessing about what the out of touch extremist Republicans might attempt to do in the next four years, we need to focus on events as they unfold with the intention of identifying timely acts of resistance that we can all take to minimize the damage and defeat MAGA at the ballot box.

This is one of those opportunities. The following two links are in the article. I put them here for you convenience if you want jump right in. Let’s do this!

Go to her website to learn about her, get email updates and donate: https://www.actonforgovernor.com/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

Early donations have more impact in a race like this. Here’s the link: https://www.actonforgovernor.com/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

Regarding the cowardly Mark Zuckerberg news any suggestions on where to go before all Meta sites (Instagram, Facebook and Threads) are turned into another unbearable right wing propaganda site like X. So far I’m very happy with Substack and Bluesky but would like to add a few sites for future insurance.

I lived in Ohio as a child before moving to Mi and still have close relatives in Ohio so I am vested in Ohio politics. This would be a huge improvement and possibly start to break MAGA’s stranglehold on the buckeye state. I would support that! Count me in.

Unfortunately for us, there is bad news about Dr. Acton:

Republicans will not forget she was at DeWine’s side when he shut down businesses, restaurants, and schools. And imposed mask mandates. And supported Ohioans getting vaccines. These folks won’t blame DeWine. They will blame her. For those reasons alone, I don’t see Republicans crossing party lines to vote for her.

Don’t let the far right anti-vaxers convince you they are a majority. Not even close. Those poll numbers show that people overall respected her approach. And they are why figures who were responsible during COVID — from DeWine to Beshear to Whitmer — cruised to reelection in 2022.

I sure hope you are right. Unfortunately I am the rare progressive among a slew of Republican neighbors who are not MAGA nor are they anti-vaxers. The anger is generally about the schools getting shut down, a parent needing to leave their job to stay home with kids who struggled to learn online at home. All the school social events their older children did not experience (prom, graduation, etc.). These people are angry at what they feel their children lost out on with all the closures.

Just heard that Ramaswamy is running for Governor. How do we volunteer to support Dr. Amy Acton?

In Ohio, it is really good news that Dr. Amy Acton is running for governor. Her qualified medical science was the bright star of facts shining high and above the back of the cereal box Covid cures Trump was oinking out. Dr. Amy Acton boosted my autoimmune system's defense from Trump depression syndrome. I'll be a loud and proud supporter. Cheers, Liz
