UPDATE: 100,000 Ballots to Go -- Keep Going!

And, a Rebuttal To the Last-Minute Shenanigans

We are under one week to go, Ohio.

And it’s close!

Thanks to your help, our reminder video to those 126,000 voters with outstanding ballots has been viewed 100,000s of times. 75% of the receipts have watched the message all the way through (a great rate).

Most importantly, 25,000 of the 125,000 outstanding “Yes on 1” ballots came in by Monday (the most updated figure we have).

But with that many votes still out there, we clearly have more to do. (See below on how you can help).

But…we also have misinformation to rebut.

Desperate to make the final days of the Issue 1 debate about anything but the extreme abortion ban (with no exceptions for rape, incest or health of the mother) he signed, Governor DeWine is cyicnally trying to fool Ohioans. He is suggesting that if Issue 1 fails, he will miraculously reconsider the extreme ban he signed into place; the ban he didn’t consider changing after it sent a 10-year old rape victim to Indiana to get the care she couldn’t get in Ohio; the ban he is still defending at the Ohio Supreme Court right now. (As Ohio NPR clarified yesterday).

No one should fall for this nonsense. His actions speak far louder than these last-minute hollow words meant to trick Ohio voters into voting No. The bleak truth is: DeWine and the legislature’s extreme ban WILL BE the law of Ohio if Issue 1 fails.

As the VIDEO above explains, it’s now time for the people to decide—not politicians like DeWine. Hell, the politicians are the reason we’re in this extremist mess to begin with. And by collecting signatures and getting Issue 1 on the ballot, the people of Ohio shoved them aside—stepping up ourselves to solve through direct democracy the problems the politicians created.

So it’s now in OUR hands, not their’s!

And by voting “Yes” now, we can directly 1) overrule the politicians like DeWine who created this mess, and 2) rid ourselves of their extreme law.

So…given all that…why on Earth would we vote “No” on our own direct effort to solve it, and place decisions over personal rights back in the hands of the very politicians that prompted Issue 1 in the first place?

Why would anyone fall for DeWine’s twisted argument that if we only vote “No”—giving away our rights on the brink of locking them into Ohio’s Constitution—then he’ll voluntarily change the law he signed (and is still defending), and secure the agreement of a gerrymandered legislature that has never cared in the slightest about what he hopes they’ll do—or what most Ohioans think?

It’s truly absurd.

Insulting.

Make sure others know how disingenuous and cynical it is.

And…vote “YES” to finish what we started!

And help get every other “Yes” vote in by Election Day.

How?

First, help us keep reaching voters with outstanding ballots in these final couple days. Our plan is working, but far more need to send their ballots in this week. Please help us reach these voters by giving what you can HERE.

Also, every shift of phone calls you can make now helps. You will be calling some of these voters, as well as election day voters, in every shift you can do. And all the voters you personally call can be the difference. So please sign up for a shift HERE.

Third, spread the word so others all do the same.

Please spread the word!

Six days. It’s close. Do what you can.

Thank you.
