Taking the Gloves Off: A Case Study

What We Can All Learn from a School Board Race in Ohio

Yesterday, I traveled to and from Lisbon, Ohio—about as far from Cincinnati as it gets, beautiful drive—and spoke at the party’s Kennedy Dinner. It was a great night!

And one of the first people I talked to after my speech said—“I loved reading about Matt Wyatt. That was great!”

Who’s Matt Wyatt?

He’s the school board candidate I wrote about yesterday.

On the opposite end of the state, we were talking about the Talawanda School Board race!

Why?

Because as I wrote yesterday, Matt Wyatt stood up and took on bullies in that race, and was the top vote getter because of it.

The reaction I got in person and on-line made clear that people all over the state and country are looking for candidates and officials who are willing to stand up and fight.

As Matt told me: “Democrats have to understand that people have the stomach to hear the pushback….Trust the voters that they don’t like what’s going on, and to use language that’s kind of rough and that people understand.”

Yesterday, on Lincoln Square, Lise Senecal and I talked about this school board race, the reaction to it, and what it teaches us.

We also talked about how toxic the Epstein case is, the meltdown of Vivek in Ohio amid the surge of Amy Acton, and other topics:
