Day 69: Another billionaire attack on consumers
Bonus painting: from four years ago
Day 69 — February 8, 2025
Despite the economic pain it inflicted throughout the nation, little accountability followed the Wall Street-driven Great Recession of 2008.
Still, one significant reform that did emerge from the crisis was the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a watchdog against predatory and abusive financial practices that hit everyday Americans in the wallet.
Since its creation in 2010, the Bureau has returned more than $20 billion to American consumers, while improving transparency and adding pro-consumer rules and regulations to a wide variety of financial transactions.
Needless to say, certain well-monied interests do not like the work of this watchdog for everyday American. Elon Musk has made it clear he wants to kill the CFPB:
Yesterday, the new OMB director essentially ordered CFPB employees to cease almost all the Bureau’s work.
Chalk another one up for the billionaires over Americans trying to make ends meet.

The paintings are soothing and embodies the spirit of nature.
It never ceases to amaze me how his devoted followers can continue to believe that he has their best interest in mind, despite all evidence to the contrary.. is there nothing that can break through the wall of their willful ignorance?
