Over the past two years, I’ve provided updates on the strong combination of 1) grassroots activism and 2) the rule of law that have held the line against the attempt to gerrymander Utah.
Things are now coming down to the wire there, with the Governor and GOP majority in the legislature still trying to defy the law and the people.
But—knock on wood—it appears that the fair districts coalition is likely to prevail. Which would mean that Salt Lake County/City would emerge as a district—as opposed to being split up among four districts.
I talked to Utah State Senator Nate Blouin—also a Congressional candidate—to learn the latest from Utah, and the different directions this may go. Watch to see why he remains optimistic that the more fair map will hold—but also warns about some of the tactics the Governor and legislature may attempt to use to get their way.
Thank you Katie Steedly Curling, Jeffry Weidner, Patrick, Nancy Mitchell, MNeal, and many others for tuning into my live video with Nate Blouin! Join me for my next live video in the app.
