Memorial Day: “Earn This”
Plus, Call to Action on Ohio’s Save Act
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words, but to live by them."
— John F. Kennedy
“Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy forget in time that men have died to win them."
— Franklin D. Roosevelt
“Earn this.”
— Saving Private Ryan
Today, we honor those who have sacrificed through our words and prayers.
Every day, we must protect this nation and the fragile democracy they fought and died for.
ACTION ALERT:
Ohio's “SAVE Act”+ is On the Move — TOMORROW
Of course they announced this the Friday before the holiday weekend, but a state level Ohio bill that would do all the damage of the federal SAVE Act and then some is being pushed forward, and TOMORROW is our opportunity to speak out. (Which means you need to submit testimony TODAY by 2 p.m.).
The bill would:
Crush voter registration—including end all voter registration drives and online/mail-in registration
Force hundreds of thousands of eligible Ohioans to vote provisionally — including married women who have changed their names
Criminally prosecute Ohioans for failing to respond to mailed notices from the state.
Ban ALL ballot drop boxes across the state
Make it much harder for Ohioans to gather signatures and place amendments on the ballot
Put Ohioans who collect ballot initiative signatures in legal danger
Legalize and incentivize harassment of signature collectors
And much more
The Ohio Senate General Government Committee will accept public testimony on the Senate version of this bill (SB 153) TOMORROW, Tuesday, 5/27/25
WHEN: 2:00 pm
WHERE: Ohio Statehouse — South Hearing Room
They gave such late notice so Ohioans wouldn’t see this coming.
Please speak out if you can!
In order to speak tomorrow, your testimony must be submitted by TODAY at 2 pm.
You can upload it to the committee website by Monday 5/26/25 at 2:00 pm. by going HERE (push the “Upload Testimony” button).
I will provide further updates…
Day 185-–May 25, 2025
As Putin orchestrates massive and deadly drone attacks on Ukraine, Trump—who promised to end the war on his first day in office—is now sending out unhinged and bizarre rants about how everyone’s at fault (including the Ukrainian victims of this vicious assault) but him.
Apparently, Zelensky defending his invaded nation (“talking the way he does”) is the equivalent as Putin’s invasion.
But far worse is that Trump wants us all to forget all the ways that he’s empowered and enabled Putin in recent months.
If Putin had a wishlist, Trump has been checking off each wish one at a time:
Trump suspended American military aid to Ukraine, making Ukraine more vulnerable to Russian aggression and strengthening Moscow’s negotiating position.
Trump has scaled back U.S. efforts to counter Russian cyber operations, disinformation campaigns, and sanctions violations.
Trump has been pressuring Ukraine to accept Russian-friendly peace terms, including the possibility of Ukraine relinquishing territory seized by Russian forces and blocking Ukraine’s path to NATO membership.
Trump’s repeated calls for peace negotiations, often without Ukrainian participation, and his public statements expressing admiration for Putin, continue to legitimize Russia’s position in the conflict.
Trump has consistently and openly questioned the value of NATO and the European Union, undermining the cohesion of Western alliances that have historically counterbalanced Russian power. This is a HUGE gift to Putin, signaling a retreat from the post-World War II security order, isolating Ukraine and emboldening Russia.
U.S. tariffs on Russian imports have been exempted, even as Trump imposes on Ukrainian goods.
Key U.S. programs targeting Russian oligarchs and covert influence operations have been dismantled, reducing pressure on Putin’s inner circle.

Wish I could vote in Ohio, David. Thank you for the lovely painting and for all you are doing to save democracy.
Yes - Yes - Yes - Yes!!
