OK, friends…if it seems like I’ve been a little busy lately, it’s because I’ve been working on an important project.
And due to events over the past week, that project just became far more important.
You see, as Donald Trump and JD Vance distract and divide us with their lies about Springfield, they keep most voters from focusing on THEIR extremism, and what would happen if they were elected.
We can’t let that cyclical and dangerous continue.
We have to go on offense.
So….as we hit the homestretch of this presidential and other races, explaining to voters the details of Project 2025 and Trump’s broader and toxic plans could not be a greater priority.
And while it’s clear that America does not want what America’s right-wing is offering, recent polls (including The NY Times poll) also show that the right-wing plans are still not known nearly enough.
So…one imperative of the closing weeks of the campaign is to make sure people truly understand the dire and dark implications of Trump winning the election. “The more voters learn about it, and believe that it reflects what Trump will do if he is elected, the more they oppose it and him.”
So here’s MY big announcement:
This week, a group of writers, podcasters and well-known actors and actresses are joining together to make sure voters understand the dark fate of our nation if Trump were to get elected again.
A Serial Podcast: “Trump’s Project 2025: Up Close and Personal” — What 2025 Would Look Like if Trump Won
It’s called “Trump’s Project 2025: Up Close and Personal.” It’s an adaptation of the chapters I sent out earlier this summer…
…to continue the effort to make Project 2025 and Trump’s disturbing plans and promises as real as possible.
And real not in a political sense, but real in the ways those promises and commitments would upend everyday American lives, and the nation more broadly. More than bullet points and factoids, the serial podcast will paint the picture of the year 2025 if Trump wins, and imagines how these specific promises and plans would play out in real life.
Each episode covers a month of the year 2025, telling a story of American lives turned upside down in the worst ways. It covers: the politicization of the DOJ; what having no vaccines in schools looks like; what happens when you replace scientific experts with political hacks; attacks on workers and unions; mass deportations and camps; and others. And every one of the chapters is anchored in the specific promises made in Project 2025 and Trump campaign promises. (Like what I’ve shared here, all with quotes and citations).
And here’s the best part: pro-democracy actors, actresses and podcasters are partnering in this project. Every week, someone you’ve seen in a movie or on television will be narrating one of the episodes/chapters.
In the above Introduction, Emmy-nominated actress (from the show “Succession) and democracy activist J. Smith-Cameron narrates (as she does a later Chapter).
And Chapter 1, which we are releasing today, is narrated by democracy and voting rights champion Heather Thomas, who starred in The Fall Guy and numerous other shows and movies over the years.
We so appreciate J and Heather lending their names and talent to this important work.
I won’t reveal who reads future chapters just quite yet, but….you just might be hearing from a well-know character of “The West Wing,” and someone who understands the power of the Force. And many more!
We also appreciate numerous podcasts who have agreed to amplify this important project widely.

So today, we are releasing the Introduction and Chapter One (January 2025), narrated by Heather Thomas and joined by other talented actors.
Future chapters will be released every week between now and election day.

The goal of all this is not just to wake up Americans to the explicit promises being made by Trump and the authors of Project 2025.
It’s to motivate voters to do all they can to keep the hellscape described in “2025” from becoming a reality.
