Final Week, Urgent Update

Good News, Bad News and Call to Action
3

Things are really heating up in Ohio. And as always, when the far right is cornered, they don’t quit—they double down. And that’s happening as we speak.

We need to respond!

First, on the good news end, thanks to your spirited response late last week, we saw incredible support that allowed us to fully fund our effort to reach out to the 65,000 voters (likely to vote no) who had yet to return their absentee ballots.

And with that support, our reminder ads have reached 60,000 of those voters repeatedly (a total of 400,000+ times), and they are responding!

30,000 of those ballots have already come in, and that number is surging in recent days. Thanks to the overall support, we now have the means to continue communicating with the remaining voters (as well as 5,000 additional ones who’ve since received their ballots) to send their votes in as well.

Bottom line: it’s working. And thanks to you, it will keep working.

So what’s the bad news?

The “Yes” side, knowing that they will trail in early vote, are making the late push I’ve been predicting to stoke their base to turn out on Election Day itself.

Today, we learned that they (two groups) have booked $5M in ads for the final week—a whopping number. (The “No” side has about $2.3M planned for the week). This would mark the first time in the campaign that the “Yes” side will have outspent the “No” side, and by a lot. (The “Yes” ads look to be all about so-called “parents rights” and other distortions that have nothing to do with Issue 1—but again, their goal is not to tell the truth, but to stoke their own turnout).

Bottom line: the “No” side can’t afford to be out-communicated on this scale in the final week of a low-turnout election. That opens up too big a risk that the “Yes” side overcomes their current deficit.

So…I’ve committed to help them close the gap.

We raised $30,000 in just a few days to reach those absentee voters. I’m now hoping to raise at least $50,000 by close of business tomorrow to get to the campaign as they ask a wide array of supporters to also dig in, allowing them to match the other side’s paid communications as much as possible.

Can you help? If so, anything you can do makes a huge difference with the stakes being as high as they are.
