Breaking: Outraising Ramaswamy, Again
Vivek Has Burned Through 96% of What He Raised from Others
On Friday, candidates in Ohio filed their finance reports for the latest reporting period. And Amy Acton, my running mate, and I outraised Vivek Ramaswamy for the second filing period in a row.
But not only did the numbers show that Amy outraised a billionaire — it also showed just how broken the Ramaswamy campaign is.
How broken? Put it this way, if his campaign were the state of Ohio, it would be busting its budget and up to its eyeballs in debt.
Here are the ugly details Ramaswamy and his operatives don’t want supporters to know:
For the last period, ending Friday, Amy outraised Vivek $5.36 to $4.58M. Amy received 88,000 donations to Vivek’s 68,000.
The period before that, Amy outraised Vivek $5.19M to $5.01M.
Since January 1, Amy has outraised Ramaswamy $11.5 to $9.6M
But that’s just the beginning of Vivek’s problems. Because in the last filing, Vivek spent almost twice of what he raised—$8.6M spent vs $4.6M raised.
That was true in the prior period too. Raised $5M and spent a whopping $12.5M.
In the entire campaign, Vivek has raised over $29M and spent $28M of it. That’s right, he has spent all but $1M that he has raised.
Essentially 96%, gone.
So how is he still running all these ads you see on TV?
Well, a few months back, he was forced to loan his campaign $25M just to keep this monstrosity afloat. (They tried to pretend this was fundraising, but it was a loan). So except for that personal loan, he’d only be at $1M right now as he spends millions per month.
The whole thing makes you wonder why he’s doing any fundraising at all. Or why anyone would ever give to him. Since he burns through all that money and is simply relying on his own wealth anyway.
Now…what does he have to show for all his spending? Nothing. All those ads and videos have him in the same place (or worse) from when he started to spend all his money in March. Even a recent Fox News poll showed him losing.
So yes, Amy—a public health doctor and lifelong public servant has outraised a billionaire, funded by all sorts of billionaire donors, all year.
But even worse, a guy who touts his (Texas) business acumen turns out to be running a debt-ridden and financially disastrous campaign, burning through hundreds of thousands of dollars in corporate jet flights and dishonest ads that seem to be turning more Ohio voters off than on.
Do we really want this guy running Ohio?
