It’s not just that Susan Crawford won.
it’s how she won—decisively.
Here’s a chart showing the shift in margins versus a few months back. The theme: it moved everywhere!
And it’s who she beat—Musk, Trump and millions spent against her. Musk clearly was using his money to buy votes and buy Wisconsin justice and power.
And Wisconsin said no!
And it’s not just that Cory Booker spoke for 25 hours—although that’s an impressive amount of time.
It’s how he did it—with gusto, and passion, and love, and authenticity. (The same traits I've seen from Cory since we first met at law school!)
And for 25 hours at least, one man showing all that appeared to wake up America.
Folks, we have to do BOTH things at once.
We must resist, defy in the moment, all that Trump is doing.
Like Senator Booker did. With all the fire and inspiration he provided. And do it again and again and again. As long as we can.
Including, by the way, this Saturday—April 5th.
And we need to gear up and run everywhere, like Susan Crawford did, even though she had to overcome the world’s richest man to prevail.
And to prevail, we must all pitch into these races, as so many Americans did. Because when we do, we can overcome all of it!
And our focus has to be on all the races where democracy is shaped (or, if in the wrong hands, destroyed). School boards and statehouses and judgeships—not just federal races in swing areas that get all the attention.
And we need to do it with confidence and bravado, knowing that the new face of the GOP is the grotesque Elon Musk..
…and that the core policies and broad impacts of the current Trump/Musk/Vance/GOP junta are disastrous for everyday Americans, but also disastrous politically—for them.
So celebrate these moments for a few hours today.

Day 120 — April 1, 2025
Trump and Musk stepped up the full-scale attack on America’s public health infrastructure, laying off thousands from the FDA (3,500 employees), CDC (2,400), NIH (1,200 workers) and more.
These cuts will devastate countless programs that keep us safe and healthy, now and in the future.
The Trump administration has also pulled slashed billions in funds from state public health agencies. Yesterday, a number of states fought back, taking the administration to court.
Of course, red states were not among them. Their leaders are happy to comply with their own destruction—which we should never forget.
